The last of the family has left, the lights are being turned off throughout the house, and silence at last is drifting throughout the rooms. Place mats and wine glasses are still sitting out on the dining table, the kitchen is packed as tightly as a puzzle with tupperwares, undrunk bottles and turkey leftovers, and a mass of discarded wrapping paper, ribbons and packages dominate the corner of the living room like an autumnal pile of fallen leaves. My presents are stowed in my suitcase, or hung up in the closet, and I am incredibly pleased with them all. No need to fear my return to the cold.

Christmas day is almost over, and it was wonderful. I hope you all had a great day as well, and for the last half hour, Merry Christmas.
